The International Crab Race. Everyone assumes cheering positions before the crabs are released from center of circle. No matter how hard Stephanie cheered, our lazy (Quin) just took his own sweet time.

Stephanie attended a local church service near David's Place. It was one-room bungalow (bure) and everyone sat on the floor for service. Ken went scuba diving that morning, so he going to hell.

Stephanie's first time kayaking! Look at that great form (she really did well, looks like her canoeing lessons camp paid off).

We kayaked to the island in the background, which took about 40 minutes each way. The water was a little rough at times but it was beautifully clear and blue... hence its name, The Blue Lagoon. The movie was filmed in various nearby spots, mainly on an island just south of here.

Bungalow (bure) #1, right on the beach. Our lovely little home for 4 days. We couldn't ask anything more perfect.

Ken has gone from computer boy to island boy!
fiji_yas_022
The layout at David's Place, with bures spread out among palm trees along the beach.

View from our bure of The Blue Lagoon and neighboring island.

The inside of our bure, complete with mosquito net. The walls and roof were braced by coconut trees thatchings intertwined to enclose it. ambiance primitive hut, sound ocean just outside, was amazing!
fiji_yas_025
The thatched roof in our bure. It was really interesting to see the intricacies of it.

Can you ask for a better view? At night, we were lulled to sleep by the sounds of ocean lapping against shore.
fiji_yas_027
Bizarre crooked coconut trees that we found amusing.

Next to Ken you'll notice a giant clam shell he retrieved while snorkeling. You'll also notice his right hand wrapped up, to stop the bleeding from cutting himself while retrieving that giant clam shell. Typical male! But he's still smiling, because he accomplished his mission and got the shell.

Five of us from our hostel took a mini-tour where we swam in beautiful caves in the morning (which were also featured in The Blue Lagoon movie), then were taken by boat to this almost-deserted island overlooking The Blue Lagoon, where we snorkeled and played at the beach.

A spectacular view from our day-trip island, called Blue Lagoon Place by the locals.
fiji_yas_031
More beautiful Fijian views. Being an almost-deserted island, there were only a few sets of footprints on the entire beach.
